Armeno-Soviet Revolutionary and Politician: Arshak Vramian (1872-1923)
Early Life and Education
Arshak Vramian, also known as "Armen Garo", was born in Erzurum (present-day Turkey) in 1872.
He received his primary education at the Varjaran Sanasarian Academy and later studied at the Agricultural School of the University of Nancy in France.
Role in the Armenian National Liberation Movement
Vramian joined the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) in 1894.
During the Zeitun uprising in 1895, he traveled to Egypt to organize aid for the Armenian self-defense efforts. It was at this time that he adopted the pseudonym "Armen Garo."
